Location:
St Ebbe's Church is located in Pennyfarthing Place in the centre of
Oxford, on the corner of St Ebbe's Street, next to the Westgate
shopping centre and multi-storey car park.
Car
Parking: There
is no parking at the church but the Westgate multi-storey car park is
very close by. Levels 3B and 4A are most popular as they are closest to
the Westgate access which leads through the shopping centre and out the
other side, past Sainsbury's, to Pennyfarthing Place and the church.
But we warned: parking in Oxford is limited and expensive!
Alternatively you might like to use the Park and Ride service, which is
very good.
From
M40 South: Leave
the M40 at junction 8, and proceed along the A40. When you come to a
large roundabout turn left onto the Ring Road A4142 (A423), signposted
Cowley. Continue on the Ring Road, going straight over the Littlemore
Roundabout, until you get to Kennington Roundabout. At this roundabout
turn right (signposted city centre/Grandpont). The Redbridge Park and
Ride is to your left immediately after this roundabout. Continue down
this road (Abingdon Road) until you cross a small bridge over the river
with the Head of the River pub on your right. Turn left at the traffic
lights. Continue through the next set of traffic lights. At the third
set, turn right, following the signs for car parking.
From
M40 North: Leave
the M40 at junction 9 join the A34 and follow signs to Oxford City
Centre. At the Peartree exit turn left, passing a service area. The
Peartree Park and Ride is on your left. At the next roundabout, by a
large BP petrol station on the right, take the 3rd exit onto Woodstock
Road. Continue to the end (joining St Giles Street) and follow the
one-way system right into Beaumont Street (past the Randolph Hotel) and
left at the traffic lights at the end (opposite Worcester College).
Continue following the one-way system over the canal and turn left at
the traffic lights (just after the Kwik Fit garage on your left).
Continue straight on past the ice rink on the right. At the traffic
lights take the turning left, following the signs for car parking.
By
train: Oxford
station is within easy walking distance of the church and should take
about 15 minutes. Turn left out of the station car park onto a busy
main road. Cross the road and take the road ahead and to the right -
Park End Street. Continue along this road, going straight onto New Road
at some traffic lights. At the top of the hill go straight into Queen
Street (no cars but lots of buses). Turn right into St Ebbe's Street
(BHS is on the corner) and right again into Pennyfarthing Place where
you will find the Church.
